Description

NORTEP/NORPAC seeks an inspiring leader who will provide innovative leadership and demonstrate teaching excellence, resulting in an outstanding student experience.  The Vice President Academic will build strong relationships with our alumnus, students, sessional instructors and 25 faculty and staff, while also cultivating important connections with external partners to advance the mission of the program.  

Qualifications:

-    Vice President (Academic) reports directly to the President CEO;
-    Must have a PhD in education;
-    Must have experience supervising faculty members in a unionized university setting;
-    Must have university teaching experience;
-    Evidence of peer reviewed publications;
-    Demonstrate proven academic leadership with respect to implementing teaching, research, and service related initiatives at the post-secondary level;
-    Demonstrate sensitivity and ability to work with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of members of the university community, including persons with disabilities;
-    Must have awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal history and issues;
-    Knowledge of northern Saskatchewan communities and schools is critical to this position;
-    Strong organizational skills, communication skills and writing skills;
-    Willing to work flexible hours;
-    Ability to speak a northern Aboriginal language is an asset.
-    Other assets include public speaking, ability to negotiate, multi-tasking, and use of technology to communicate;
-    Must have a valid driver's license;

Duties and Responsibilities:

-    Provides oversight in academic decisions consistent with university standards;
-    Holds responsibility for developing and implementing initiatives that are essential to the academic positioning of the organization in tandem with the focus of Advanced Education in Saskatchewan;
