Writer/Producer

Martin Charlton Communications is a Saskatchewan-based communications company, with offices in Regina and Saskatoon, serving a diverse global clientele base that includes some of the largest companies in the world.

We are looking to add a member to our team who discovers, researches and produces compelling journalism for a growing online audience. Can you:

- Interview people in a range of circumstances, including in-person, phone or Skype, so you can tell their story.
- Build contacts to maintain a flow of news and stories.
- Be curious and investigate story ideas via your contacts, press releases, media sources and on-line research.
- Work closely with the Martin Charlton team.
- Record interviews using shorthand and/or technical equipment including video recording.
- Produce concise and accurate copy according to Canadian Press style and adhere to strict deadlines. There may be several deadlines each day.
- Write long-form journalistic-style stories for online news sites and traditional print.
- Edit long form stories into highlights to engage online readers.
- Use a high level of judgment and creativity to tell stories on all digital platforms including social media.
- Be able to use new storytelling methods such as re-purposing written copy into charts, graphs, video and other visuals for digital platforms.
- Manage the delivery of content to digital and print platforms to meet deadlines.

We will provide ongoing coaching and training regarding modern storytelling formats, techniques and structures.
