Services Description:
The Society for the Involvement of Good Neighbours Independent Living Program(SIGN-ILP) assists and encourages independent living skills to enhance the quality of life of ABI survivors. The program is governed by a holistic approach, which takes into account all aspects of the person's life. This approach promotes clients independence while providing respite for caregivers and families. The goal is to teach the client "how to" rather than "doing for". The services offered to the individuals in the program may be on a one-on-one basis, in a small group setting, or in the community. Referrals are made through the SHR-ABI Regional Coordinator or self referrals in cooperation with the SHR-ABI Regional Coordinator.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education requirements include Rehabilitation Worker Certificate, Life Skills Coach Certificate, ABI Rehabilitation Certificate, and or an equivalent combination of training and experience in the human services field.
- Mature caring personality with high degree of common sense
- A cognizance of behaviors associated with ABI, Daily living skills and ability to teach them
- Initiative to develop and maintain positive relationships
- Computer skills and data entry, Organizational skills
- File maintenance and upkeep of required documentation per client caseload
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as within a team
- Commitment to confidentiality
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in office and on road in Yorkton and surrounding rural communities
- Work requires regular travel in Yorkton and surrounding rural areas; SIGN vehicle provided
Employment Conditions:
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's license
