The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to staff the permanent part-time evening position of Stage 1 English Language Teacher. The start date for this position is October 1, 2015.
Primary Responsibilities:
o Planning and delivering communicative, task-based, outcomes-focused English as a Subsequent Language instruction using CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) curriculum guidelines in a classroom setting.
o Employing a thematic approach to teaching based on Canadian culture and settlement and integration life skills.
o Assessing student benchmarks using Portfolio Based Language Assessment
o Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for learners.
o Providing on-going needs-assessment and evaluation to ensure clients language needs are met.
o Maintaining class and learner files and monitoring attendance.
o Submitting monthly reports.
o Performing other position-related duties as needed.
Required qualifications/education:
o B.ED. or related degree
o TESL training and experience
o Consideration will also be given to a combination of a related university degree and formal TESL training/work experience
o Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organization skills
o Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, and professionalism
o Strong ability to work cooperatively in a cross-cultural setting
Hours of Work:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. This includes face-to-face instructional time from 6:45 9:00 p.m. and time for preparation and marking.
