Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company (SNTC) is a culturally driven Indigenous organization that facilitates three cultural arts programs including the after school Circle of Voices (COV) program for Indigenous youth. This program runs after school from 5 to 9 pm Tuesday to Thursday evenings and sometimes on weekends. Duties of the cultural leader include:
- Coordinate cultural programming for SNTC staff, the COV program and other educational programs
- facilitate a safe and supportive environment for Indigenous youth, staff and artists to explore their cultural identity;
- Maintain a connection with staff, artists and youth in their administrative, collaborative, creative endeavours;
- Make a connection for COV members between the cultural knowledge and artistic work experience skills they obtain and their own career development goals.
The successful candidate must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised, but also able to work in a collaborative atmosphere with a professional, outgoing demeanor. SNTC promotes the traditional Indigenous teaching of universality that invites and welcomes all faiths and traditions to SNTC.
The preferred candidate(s) will have First Nations, Metis or Inuit ancestry; Training and work experience counseling Indigenous youth; a broad awareness and understanding of Indigenous language, culture and peoples in Saskatchewan.
