Description

The Saskatchewan Association for Community Living (SACL) is an exciting and dynamic provincial not-for-profit agency that provides ongoing support and advocacy to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. The SACL is seeking an individual to be the Community Inclusion Consultant responsible for provincial Self-Advocacy programming. This position will have four primary roles:
1.    To provide leadership, administration and support to regular programming across the province including the Self-Advocacy Action Group, the Individual and Collective Advocacy Network and other Self-Advocacy Initiatives (40%).
2.    To provide support to self-advocates as they engage with and navigate complex systems that they might encounter including Health, Education, Justice, Social Services, and many other groups (40%).
3.    To facilitate ongoing feedback from and engagement of the Self-Advocates with other SACL programs including family, youth, systemic advocacy, and community development (15%).
4.    To provide coverage for other Community Inclusion Consultants in providing individual and family support during holidays, time off, etc. (5%).
The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities and will be able to put the vision & mission of the SACL into action while doing so. As well, the Individual will have experience with event planning and group facilitation. This position requires someone who is dynamic and outgoing that can establish meaningful relationships quickly. This position will have a lot of independence and autonomy however is part of an active and busy team.
This position will be based out of Saskatoon however will require frequent travel across the province up to 50% of the time. This is a term position for one year with the high possibility of renewal.
