Description

The Town of La Ronge is seeking a qualified individual to perform the duties of Equipment Operator for Barber Field Airport.  Reporting directly to the Airport Manager, this position will assist with the operation and maintenance of the airport in order to maintain the standards set by Transport Canada for a certified airport.  

This position is being filled as an eight month term with the possibility of extension.


Some Duties of the Airport Equipment Operator include:

- Removal of Snow and Ice on runways including runway checks  
- Summer maintenance on runways
- Wildlife control
- Maintenance of a variety of roads at the airport
- Operation and general maintenance of the airport equipment fleet including but not limited to:
    Sweeper
    Snowplow
    Snow blower
    Loader
    Tractor
    Grader
    Tractor complete with sander attachment
- Maintenance of all airfield lighting systems
- Airport security
- Operation and maintenance of the Air Terming Building, Water Storage and Treatment Building, Field Electrical Centre, Equipment Maintenance Shop and Sand Shed
- Act as Emergency Coordinator in case of an aircraft emergency in the absence of the Airport Manager (training provided)
- On call rotation with other Airport staff

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Valid Class 5A drivers license
- Restricted Radio Operators Certificate (training provided)
- Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (training provided)
- Experience in operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Any other airport experience is an asset
