Description

The City of Weyburn is a dynamic and progressive municipality located in the heart of SE Saskatchewan. The City has a population of over 10,500 and a solid economic and community foundation upon which new opportunities are continuously built.

This full time permanent position of Parks Coordinator will play an integral role in the Parks Department operations. This out of scope position reports directly to the Superintendent of Public Works & Parks and is responsible for the management of our parks and green space system, Tatagwa Parkway, the urban forest, as well as the operation and administration of Hillcrest Cemetery.
The Parks Coordinator will be responsible:
- for the supervision and safety of all assigned employees while complying with policies, procedures and OH&S regulations;
- for regular reporting, documentation and assistance with monitoring and preparation of annual operating budget;
- to serve on the City of Weyburn Parks Board;
- to represent the City's membership in the Association of Saskatchewan Urban Parks and Conservation Agencies (ASUPCA);
- to be the liaison with local user groups and provincial ministries (legislation, grants and funding agreements);
- to provide horticultural expertise to community residents;
-for other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Specific Training:
- post-secondary education in horticulture, green space management, landscape architecture or other related field;
- Pesticide Applicator's License in both Landscape and Mosquito & Biting Fly categories;
- three (3) years of progressive experience in a management role;
- excellent customer service and communication skills;
- valid Class 5 driver's license.
