The Mentoring/go Girls Coordinator will be responsible for matching volunteer mentors with children and youth and to monitor those matches in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
Responsibilities:
-Accept and document application of potential volunteers and clients;
-Manage intake of children and volunteers including orientation, interviewing, screening and conducting reference checks;
-Inform volunteers of their acceptance or rejection and explain reasons for denial of service or closing of an application or referral;
-Conduct the Child Safety training program with volunteers, children and parents;
-Maintain case notes in accordance with the National Standard;
-Facilitate match closure process for volunteer, child and parent, including exit interview with volunteers;
-Provide Director with regular reports as requested;
-Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agencies policy;
-Perform administrative functions;
-Coordinate program activities and assist with recreational activities as required;
-Liaise with schools, other youth service agencies, and other community groups / clubs;
-Complete yearly performance appraisal including goals and objectives for coming year.
Qualification:
-2 year post secondary diploma in education,social or human services, child/youth work or family studies;
-Effective oral and written communication skills
-Strong problem solving skills;
-Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds;
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
-Sound computer skills;
-Ability to work flexible hours;
-Valid SK driver's license and access to a vehicle.
