Description

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a term position of Business Development Officer. The successful candidate will join the 'Economic Development Team.'

Duties & Responsibilities

- Main duty is to help develop small businesses and help existing businesses and explore new business opportunities.
- Assist in developing business plans for clients and sourcing funding for business startups.
- Undertake and assess market research which may help find any gaps or opportunities.
- Analyze industry trends and do competitor benchmarking; read business journals, attend seminars & workshops to be abreast of latest trends and happenings.
- Ensure sufficient finances, materials, manpower and other resources are available to implement the business development plans.
- Make idea generation and exploring new business opportunities a day to day exercise.
- Interact and network with people from different backgrounds; conduct self with utmost professional business attitude.
- Network on a regular basis with stakeholders to explore new ideas and initiatives.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Economics, Marketing, Commerce, Finance, or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
- Knowledgeable in financial principles with the ability to analyze financial data.
- Must be experienced in conducting proper due diligence and risk management within all projects and responsibilities.
- Excellent report writing skills with demonstrated ability in research, written communication, public speaking, and presentations.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively assist with individual business planning, meetings, etc.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer software/hardware applications.
- Must be able to work with First Nation communities and individuals in a respectful and understanding manner to develop effective working relationships.
