The Director will encourage & work with the First Nations & organizations to develop/facilitate sport & recreation programs appropriate to the needs of the First Nations located within BATC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
FIRST NATIONS PROGRAMS
Overall planning, organizing, controlling & directing of the sport & recreation programming for BATC
Conduct on-going assessments of Band & Tribal Council needs in sport & recreation activities, meeting & reporting monthly
Annual budget preparation & expenditure control over department & for sports & recreation programming
Liaise with BATC First Nations & develop short/long term plans/budgets to meet agreed on sport & recreation activities, such as minor hockey clinics, soccer, etc.;
Liaise with outside agencies (Federal, Provincial, Professional, Institutional) & with First Nations governments & agencies in matters affecting the quality of sport & recreational services to First Nations;
Assist with drafting & preparation of proposals & grant applications as required by specific First Nations &/or Tribal Council
Assist in enlisting, training, organization & supervision of all volunteers
Responsible for fundraising for sport & recreational programs
2016 SK WINTER GAMES - Team BATC
Coordinate & assist with planning & implementation of inter-Band & inter-district sport & recreational efforts including the SK Indian Summer & Winter Games Programs & the North American Indigenous Games; including planning for & implementation of the actual event and well as the play downs for these events.
Qualifications:
Certificate or equivalent in Sports & Recreational related education or equivalency of education & experience.
Working knowledge of sport & recreation programs
Knowledge & experience in working for First Nations & familiarity of customs, culture & traditions
First Aid/CPR
Valid Driver's license
