Description

The Workplace Literacy Instructor (WLI) will be responsible for designing and delivering classes on workplace language, culture and idioms during the Mentorship Programs classroom portion. The WLI will be responsible teaching the workplace literacy classes for 2.5 hours per day to Adult Newcomer Professionals from September 21 - November 13, 2015 from 12:30 to 3:00 PM Monday to Friday (class timing not flexible). The WLI position includes prep time before classes begin and on class days (either before/after). The WLI will communicate progress and any issues to the Mentorship Program Coordinator during the class and provide a brief report at the end of the intake.

Position Details

Duration: September 21, 2015  November 13, 2015

Weekly Working Hours: 15 hours/week (10 of which are instruction hours)

Wage: $24.00 per hour

Qualifications for this position include:

Post-secondary education and experience in adult education program design and delivery
Experience in developing curricula and ESL/workplace literacy resources
Knowledge of issues surrounding immigrants and refugees
Commitment and sensitivity to the needs of participants
Knowledge of issues surrounding racialized Canadians, immigrants, and refugees
Knowledge of the Saskatchewan labour market, job trends, employment opportunities, Canadian workplace culture and language;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines;
Must be self-directed and able to complete tasks with limited supervision;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Familiarity with basic office protocol.
