Description

Duties and responsibilities:
SLYP-Out is a recreation and leisure program for youth and young adults with varying abilities, between the ages of 12 and 22 years.  The SLYP-Out Facilitator is responsible for assisting the SLYP-Out Coordinator with planning and implementation of activities.
Duties include:
-    Assist with recruitment of SLYP-Out participants and volunteers
-    Conduct recreational activities and assist with the distribution of schedule.
-    Transport participants to and from activities when required
-    Purchase supplies and materials needed for activities and within a budget
-    Assist the SLYP-Out Coordinator with implementation of volunteer orientation
-    Distribute and collect program evaluations
-    Provide an engaging, interactive, safe and fun atmosphere for participants
-    Foster a safe work environment by using safe work practices, observing Council policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
-    Promote, instruct and model acceptable social behaviour for quality of life and training.
-    Maintain participant records including attendance, goals, programs and activities.
-    Encourage participant independence during activities to promote self-esteem, socialization, and recreation
-    Evening work is required
Qualifications:
-    Grade 12 education, presently enrolled in or returning to full time post-secondary studies in kinesiology, education, recreational therapy, social work or other related disciplines
-    Preference will be given to candidate with valid First Aid and CPR.
-    Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office programs
-    Valid Drivers License and working vehicle
Experience
-    Experience working with people or children/youth with physical and/or mental disabilities preferred
-    Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
-    Innovation and creative thinking skills
The final candidates are required to provide satisfactory police record checks
