As part of its mission to develop and support industrial research and technology development, CLSI is now accepting applications to fill a position that is responsible for the operation of the industrial macromolecular diffraction data collection service. MX Services is an industry-driven program mandated to support the needs of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry sectors through the facilitation of access to various synchrotron tools in order to meet their research and development needs.
Responsibilities: As a key member of the MX Services team, the Industrial Scientist is responsible for the operations of the industrial macromolecular crystallography data collection services, ensuring that scientific and technical expertise is provided for industrial MX projects. The successful candidate will work cooperatively with the Business Development Leader, MX Services to develop, implement and maintain operational policies and procedures as they relate to MX data collection services. This includes overseeing the coordination of beamtime utilization and data collection on MX crystallography facilities. The Industrial Scientist will also play a key role in promoting and developing client relationships to increase the engagement of industrial services at the CLS, with a particular emphasis on x-ray crystallography, and may potentially extend into SAXS and BioXAS. In this fashion, the Industrial Scientist explains the benefits of using synchrotron analysis and helps to identify potential applications to meet client needs.
