Description

The Program Assistant is an administrative support position reporting to the Manager of the University Department or designate. The incumbent is primarily responsible for providing assistance in planning, organizing, delivering and evaluating programs in an assigned area.  The Program Assistant may act as a liaison between coordinators and the instructors, administrative office, funding agencies, and community.  Some clerical support work is required and occasional travel may be necessary.  The Program Assistant may be assigned a variety of duties depending on the changing needs of the College.  
; must be prepared to schedule hours of work according to the demands of the position which may include occasional evenings and weekends (i.e. field hours scheduled by the supervisor); must be willing to travel occasionally including overnight stays, air travel, and travel on gravel roads; proven organizational skills that allow handling multiple projects at the same time while ensuring that assigned details are dealt with in a timely fashion effective time management skills and ability to prioritize work; extensive knowledge of business communication (e.g. letter writing, proofreading, listening skills) and office procedures. filing; advanced computer skills in word processing (advanced skills in using tables, columns, and formatting techniques are required); basic skills in spreadsheets (entering data in complex spreadsheet required, designing spreadsheets desirable) and database (data entry, generate reports); proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions while maintaining good judgement in keeping supervisor(s), coworkers, and external partners apprised of important developments.
This position requires a 1-Year Certificate or equivalent.
