Description

DUTIES:
The Community Planning division works pro-actively to address long range land use planning challenges and opportunities.  This position will be involved in a number of exciting projects from regional planning to neighbourhood revitalization projects.  
Key accountabilities:
1. Reports directly to the General Manager, Community Planning.
2. Works closely with other department managers, and relates to Council through the respective General Manager and the Director of Planning and Engineering.
3. Develops and fosters close working relations with various external government agencies, related industry contractors, consultants, and associated professional groups.
4. Deals with the public with integrity and in a professional and courteous manner.
5. Responsible for key service areas offered by the Community Planning division.
6. Effectively manage a variety of different Community Planning initiatives to ensure that the deliverables are on budget, time and of quality.  
7. Maintain, enhance and develop inter-governmental relationships on behalf of the Community Planning division that meets Council Strategic Plan and Priorities.    
8. Provide guidance to staff that will help support the Planners service area.  

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A recognized degree in land use or land use planning.    
- Minimum of 5 years municipal planning experience is preferred.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Proven project management skills and experience.
- The candidate must be capable of working independently, concisely and accurately with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proven inter-governmental skills and experience.
- Proven consultation and engagement experience.
