The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is the national synchrotron research facility on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon. This facility produces high intensity synchrotron light, millions of times brighter than sunlight, to explore the nature and structure of molecules and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions. To support facility operations, CLSI currently has an opportunity in the Accelerator Development and Operations group within the Machine Division for a full-time RF Engineer/Physicist
As a member of the AOD team, the successful candidate will participate in the design, implementation, maintenance and operation of RF systems. The candidate will also be responsible for normal accelerator machine operation, injecting and maintaining beam current and position. Trouble shooting and resolving machine trips are necessary in order to provide stable current for our users. As a part of the accelerator operations team, you will also be required perform some shift work to assist with accelerator operations.
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Physics and knowledge of RF system design and operation. Specific skills are provided through on the job training or at accelerator schools. Effective interpersonal skills are a requirement in order to work effectively as a team player. The candidate must be proficient in both written and spoken English.
Experience Considered an Asset:
-Knowledge of digital RF control systems
-Knowledge of high-power RF systems
-Knowledge of particle accelerator specific issues related to RF systems
-5+ years software development knowledge/experience C/C++/MATLAB
