The Athletics Commission of Saskatchewan was recently established to regulate professional combative sports in Saskatchewan. The Commission approves event permits, ensures that promoters and competitors have the proper licences, and that event permits are adhered to. The Commission is also responsible for ensuring that qualified officials are hired for events. The five professional combative sport officials that the Commission is seeking applications for are:
1) Referee
2) Judge
3) Timekeeper
4) Scorekeeper
5) Dressing room supervisor
Experiences, skills and training to perform as a professional combative sport official should include:
- An understanding of the rules of combative sports;
- Experience in a leadership role;
- Strong communication and problem solving skills;
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, competitive environment;
- Commitment to the sport and ability to promote the integrity of the sport and commission; and
- Professional integrity and reliability.
For those applying for a referee or judge, you will also need to include:
- Training certification recognized by the Commission and/or plans to receive training certification;
- Experience as an official, including the category of official, level officiated, and locations and dates of contests or exhibitions that the official officiated; and
- Any other experience officiating in amateur or professional sports.
