Reporting to the Power Engineer Supervisor, this position is responsible for the following duties:
-Deliver training programs, hands-on training and record keeping for all areas of power engineering
-Communicate with Trainees and develop their skills in safety, work processes and procedures, circuit knowledge, operating techniques, and record keeping
-Liaise with the following departments: Human Resources, Site Training, Mill Operations, Metallurgy, Maintenance, Environment, Quality & Compliance, Radiation and Safety
-Continually upgrade and broaden training skills and personal accreditation.
-Recommend outsourcing training when required.
-Partner with Training Advisors to ensure compliance of the SAT program
-Support senior qualified power engineers in mentoring new trainees
-Must work with other departments to maintain operating efficiency
-Ensure the safe day to day operation of all areas operated by the power engineering group
-Procedure, work instructions review and writing
-LOTO database control
-Field checking LOTO & Confined Space Entry
-Undertake other tasks assigned by the Chief Power Engineer or Power Engineer Supervisors
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
-Preference will be given to Resident of Saskatchewans North (RSN)
-Candidate must possess at minimum a third class Power Engineering Certificate
-2-5 years related work experience
-Work interdepartmentally to co-ordinate companywide training programs
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a pro-active, cooperative manner
-Knowledge and personal credibility to be able to influence a crew
-Willingness to commit to training Northerners.
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-Previous work experience within a chemical plant, acid plant, and crystallization experience is an asset
-Some exposure to lifting and high heat conditions
-Ability to lift 50lbs and work in higher than normal heat conditions (up to 40C)
