Description

Under the direct supervision of the Manager and the general supervision of the Managing Director of Women's Housing, the Outreach Worker will provide support from a Housing First perspective to residents with complex barriers to remaining housed once they leave My Aunt's Place (MAP).  
Service Delivery
-Work cooperatively with the other staff at the shelter to identify residents in need of extra support in the community and create a plan for outreach and follow-up services for after their stay at MAP.
-Provide warm referrals to community programs and agencies as needed to reduce the risk of homelessness for each woman;
-Assist women in preparing for their move into housing including helping them to arrange utility hook up, financial planning, food planning, locating furnishings, community mapping, and developing a housing preservation plan to reduce the risk of future homelessness;
-Follow a common case planning process with each client, which identifies individual goals, barriers, and supports needed to maintain stability and housing in the community;
-Maintain detailed and accurate case files for each client in accordance with program record keeping guidelines;
-Develop a collaborative relationship with other agencies who have housing programs, community drop-in centres, and outreach services;
Qualifications:
-A post-secondary degree or certificate in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered;
-Understanding of complex issues related to homelessness, including addiction, mental wellness, poverty, trauma, etc;
-Non-judgmental attitude and firm boundaries;
-First Aid/CPR and Valid Saskatchewan driver's license;
-Demonstrated respect for children and families of various backgrounds;
-Skill in problem-solving, managing multiple demands, and responding appropriately to incidents and needs as they arise;
