We are seeking candidates for the positions of Social Director in our personal care and memory care community dedicated to residents living with Alzheimer disease and other dementias. The role of Social Director is to plan, implement, and promote activities to enhance quality of life for all residents living at Brightwater Senior Living of Riverbend, facilitating community involvement through volunteerism and resident outings, and safely transport residents in community bus as needed.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following: scheduling activities, entertainment and outings on a weekly and monthly basis, scheduling and supervising recreation staff and volunteers, maintaining a budget, communication with families and community partners as well as educating on the importance of activities to fellow staff, families, and community members. Experience planning, implementing, and facilitating programs and activities are necessary. Experience working with geriatrics and/or Alzheimers and dementia is an asset.
A diploma or degree in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation Therapy is preferred. Maintain any certifications as required by provincial regulations including First Aid and CPR. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
