The Position: The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission is looking for energetic and confident person to assume the role of Paralegal in our Saskatoon office. This is a half time (.5) one year (12 month) term position.
The Person: As the successful candidate, you will provide paralegal support for our professional team of lawyers and investigators. Your interpersonal skills will be well suited to working in a team environment. You will have a good understanding of the legal provisions and general procedures established under The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code and Regulations. You will also have a demonstrated knowledge of the Saskatchewan Queens Bench Rules of Practice and Procedure, as you will have significant recent experience in a litigation paralegal role. While not essential, a thorough knowledge of case law and other developments in the field of human rights in Canada and elsewhere will be considered an asset. Your superior organizational skills will allow you to effectively balance thoroughness with efficiency. You will effectively manage documents, create and use litigation document templates, conduct research, and draft memoranda.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position will be attained by the completion of a recognized diploma, certificate or post-secondary degree in paralegal education, legal education, or equivalent. Additionally, the successful candidate will have 5 years minimum recent litigation paralegal experience. Candidates may be asked to complete a written exam as part of the interview process. An equivalent level of skill and experience may be considered.
