Description

Battlefords Concern For Youth is currently hiring for the position of Full Time Youth Outreach Worker.

The Youth Outreach Worker provides outreach services to youth in the community, and creates awareness of the program to become an identified resource that youth and their families can access. The position also identifies gaps in services for youth in crisis and works in collaboration with other programs and community agencies to address these gaps.

Responsibilities/Skills:
- provide outreach services to vulnerable/at-risk youth
- consultation and collaboration with community youth organizations to determine the most effective ways of identifying and addressing needs of vulnerable youth and families and emerging issues
- maintain strict confidentiality
- have excellent written and oral communication skills
- be a team player
- act as a liaison with all social, recreational, and educational agencies
- flexibility is required, as hours of work are Monday through Friday from 1:00-9:00pm with varying hours during summer months, and for events throughout the year


Qualifications:
- must have a Youth Care Worker Diploma, or comparable Diploma, or higher education level, combined with 1-3 years of related experience
- recent criminal record check, with a vulnerable sector check (done within the past 30 days)
- CPR / First Aid certificate
- a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective strategies that address complex social issues
- knowledge of adolescent development
- crisis intervention skills
- the ability to build trusting, positive relationships with youth and their families
- the ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously
- knowledge of the community, its resources, and its agencies would be an asset
