The Saskatchewan Medical Association, the voice of Saskatchewan's physicians, is looking for a motivated and talented individual to join our communications team.
This position is responsible for the planning, coordination and production of various communications materials. This position writes and manages website content and social media messages and content. The position contributes to campaigns, publications, events and media relations as part of a strong, focussed communications team that supports the strategic direction of the SMA and its programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinates interviews and writes articles for the website, E-News, and the SMA Digest, etc. This includes ensuring the SMA website (both internal and external) is up to date and accurate
- Develops materials for and continuously updates the SMA website and the SMA Twitter and Facebook accounts.
- Assists in the layout and design of posters, brochures and other print materials
- Assists in event planning and coordination, specifically the Representative Assemblies and the SMA Fall Tour
- May assist in media relations
- Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of SMA programs and setting strategic direction
- Carries out additional work-related duties that are related to the job description or are shared or rotated among Communications staff
Qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. communications, public relations, journalism, English, marketing) or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Strong computer skills (word processing, databases, web-based applications)
