Description

Saskatchewan Alternative Initiative (SAI) is a leader in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in the areas of Home Support, Day Program and Semi-Independent Living. We are currently looking for a Team Leader in our Home Support Program.

Primary Role Focus

To work directly in a home, assisting individuals with disabilities in all areas of their life and providing support as needed to access community activities and develop a strong quality of life. To be directly accountable and provide leadership for the Support Team.
- Reports to the Program Coordinator

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Provide direct support and lifestyle planning consistent with SAIs beliefs, values and Gentle Teaching philosophy.
Accountable for all facets of the Support Team and provides leadership in the areas of:
- Direct support in the home with everyday living such as meal preparation, recreational opportunities and personal hygiene.
- Support Team supervision, schedules, evaluations, team meetings, etc.
- Development, support and delivery of individual plans.
- Option development.
- Relationships with individuals, families, and personal networks of the people served through SAI.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Strong time management, organizational and communication skills.
Strong team work and collaboration.
Previous experience leading/mentoring or managing a team.
Working knowledge of the following is an asset:
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention Techniques
- Addictions counselling
- The justice system
- Augmentative Communication
Previous experience providing direct hands-on support for people with disabilities is an asset.
Related post-secondary education is an asset.
Direct experience or knowledge in Gentle Teaching is an asset.

*A clear criminal records check and valid drivers license is needed to apply. Your own vehicle is an asset.
