Description

Librarians with technical services expertise provide infrastructure support (planning, consultation and implementation) for many library initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Collection Services, this role will focus on providing professional expertise and assistance with a range of technical service projects. The focus of these projects will be on supporting the management and assessment of electronic resources (e.g. e-books, e-journals, online databases).

An ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science degree or equivalent is required for this appointment. Candidates with non ALA-accredited degrees must provide proof of equivalency from a third-party agency with their application. Candidates must also demonstrate:

    Aptitude and competence in technical services librarianship and utilizing technology
    Familiarity with tools such as OpenURL resolvers, knowledge bases, discovery systems, and electronic resources management systems
    Knowledge of project management methodologies and demonstrated ability to manage and complete projects
    A commitment to high quality service
    Flexibility, enthusiasm, collegiality, and willingness to take initiative
    The ability to develop and sustain effective and collaborative professional working relationships and partnerships
    Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication skills
    Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
    An ability to work well both independently and in a collegial team environment
    A commitment to developing professional knowledge and skills on a continuing basis
