CUPE Library Clerk/Educational Assistant - Permanent 1.0 (30 hours/week) - Leader Composite School -Comp. #1767

This position will be a combination Library Clerk (15 hours) and Educational Assistant (15 hours).

Start Date: September 1, 2015

Duties and Responsibilities
-Assist teachers and/or students in the location and use of Resource Centre materials
-Assist in public relations, including planning and implementing visual displays and programs in the library through appropriate use of bulletin boards and other spaces.
-Maintain computer-based circulation and cataloguing protocols
-Process resource material (shelving, filing, laminating, etc.)
-Willingness to meet the health and hygiene needs of children as required
-Willingness to assist with all aspects of the program, including supporting goals of child development
-Willingness to provide support in a one-on-one situation and within a classroom environment
-Promote the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
-Possess a Educational Assistant certificate or Library Tech certificate
-Proficiency in the use of computers such as word processing, database systems
-Related training or experience in the library field would be an asset
-Ability to do medium work (exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs regularly)
-Ability and experience in working with elementary students
-Ability to participate in physically active situations
-Strong interpersonal and relationship skills, and an ability to work in a team environment
-A positive and flexible attitude to change
