Description

To provide the basic daily requirements of all animals within research and barrier facilities, and perform maintenance on outside paddock area.

This position reports to the senior technicians.  Duties may be carried out independently with support and direction from technicians, or as a team.  The work will be performed in conventional, Level 2 and livestock animal facilities; involves heavy, repetitive manual tasks and is exposed to animal dander, waste and bedding; includes restraining animals, cleaning rooms/pens, lifting/moving feed, supplies and equipment, and working in inclement weather.  This position supports the maintenance of biosecurity assurance among the variety of animal species housed within the facility.  The nature of work is dynamic and can get stressful at times due to unanticipated events.
