The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is the national synchrotron research facility on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon. This facility produces high intensity synchrotron light to explore the nature and structure of molecules and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions. CLSI also operates the Medical Isotope Production (MIP) facility, developing new methods for producing medical isotopes using a high-power electron linear accelerator.
Reporting to the Chief Medical Isotopes Officer, the successful candidate will be a part of a small highly skilled team. The nature of MIP work is such that there is opportunity to specialize in areas and techniques of medical accelerator operations that are relatively unique.
Responsibilities:
Design of MIP control systems and safety systems
Co-ordinate with CLSI technical support staff in deployment of systems
Supervise MIP operations including planning for irradiation runs, staffing, etc.
Develop documentation necessary to support operations
Other duties as assigned, based on project specifications and organizational need
Qualifications:
A bachelors degree, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering Physics
5+ years software development knowledge/experience C/C++
Operations experience with particle accelerators
Experience Considered an Asset:
Development of control or data acquisition systems for electron linear accelerators
Experience design accelerator machine protection and safety systems
Knowledge of Siemens S7 PLC systems
EPICS SCADA platform experience
Skills:

Problem solving and decision making in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidelines
