Description

Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Addictions Counsellor functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary care team to provide services that promote wellness while empowering clients to achieve their highest level of functioning.

Residential Program Counselling:
-Provide counseling as needed to the clients in the Addictive Disorders programs.
-Develop a treatment plan for each client based on the assessment of presenting issues.
-Adapt treatment modalities to the clients individual characteristics and needs.
-Utilize an interdisciplinary approach to treatment where appropriate.
-Provide coordination in the areas of case management, case planning and implementation of programming.
-Coordinate and/or participate in case management, consultation and in departmental planning activities.

Detox Counselling:
-Provide one-on-one counselling for those in Detox and Transition programs.
-Assist when necessary in conducting assessments of clients upon admission.
-Monitor daily progress of clients throughout the Detox and Transition program.

Family Program:
-Provide counselling as needed to the clients attending the Family Program.
-Implement, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of Family Support services.
-Support clients with problem solving, compatibility and conflict resolution.
-Conduct individual and group counselling sessions.
