Duties & Responsibilities
To act as a general receptionist including receiving visitors, answering telephones/taking messages; receiving and distributing incoming mail, etc.; provide administrative, clerical and secretarial duties; photocopying and faxing a variety of correspondence; data entry using a variety of MS programs; sorting and distribution of incoming/outgoing mail; update and maintain municipal website; creation of various databases. There is a requirement to be discreet in handling sensitive and confidential information.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for this job:
- Has excellent oral and written (including on-line) communication skills
- Can work well independently
- Has great organizational skills and problem solving skills
- Holds a valid driver's licence
- Additionally, the following experience would be an asset:
o Experience in working with community organizations
o Knowledge of using social media to effectively market and promote events
o Familiar with website development and maintenance
Education:
High school, University or College student. Students must be at least 15 years of age, legally entitled to work in Canada, enrolled at a secondary or post-secondary school or institution, and returning to full time studies after this employment.
Workplace Standard First Aid would be considered an asset.
Supervision/Training:
Will work under the supervision of Town Administrator. Training will be provided.
Hours of work:
This position will work during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, from 9 to 12:00 and 1:00 to
4:30.
Interviews will be held the week of May 19-22.
