Safe Drinking Water Foundation, a registered Canadian charity whose mission is to educate the leaders of today and tomorrow about drinking water quality issues to realize their goal of safe drinking water being available to every Canadian, received funding for a project Students Taking Action to Change Canadian Water Attitudes. This project is a competition in which classrooms and other groups of students located in municipalities across Canada will participate by determining a water issue in their area, conducting baseline surveys, educating others in their community, conducting follow-up surveys, and writing a report. One group of elementary age students will receive a large prize package and one group of high school age students will also receive a large prize package. Safe Drinking Water Foundation requires a Project Manager for this competition.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and administration of this project. With, and under the supervision of, the Executive Director, the Project Manager will: advertise this competition, conduct webinars to help teachers and students to complete each step of their project, answer questions students and teachers have, and help with purchasing the prizes. Some general office tasks might also be required.
This position is part-time and temporary (approximately one year). The successful candidate will work approximately ten hours per week and the schedule will be flexible other than certain specific dates.
Requirements:
- At least some post-secondary (preference will be for students in a program related to education or environmental studies).
- Good computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience interacting with students in grades four to twelve would be an asset.
- French language skills would be an asset.
- Experience hosting or participating in webinars would be an asset.
