Description

Duties and responsibilities:
Provides individual and group assistance to individuals with varying abilities, in accordance to their Personal Program Plan and/or Comprehensive Behavior Support Plan in both facility and community based settings. Assist with implementing programs and activities for individuals within a day program and in the areas of life skills and work skills development and recreational and leisure activities. Duties include:
-    Collaborate with the Day Program team to provide quality programs and activities for clients in the Day Program
-    Assist with the supervision of clients while participating in community and/or in-centre activities
-    Provide training and support for clients within the Day Program including responsible role modeling and counseling
-    Assist with personal care as required
-    Transport clients to community activities
-    Maintain client documentation including attendance, personal program plans and communication books according to agency standards.

Qualifications:
Education:
-    Disability Support Worker Certificate (Rehabilitation Worker Certificate) or Life Skills Coach and/or related training and experience
-    Valid Class 5 drivers license
-    First Aid and CPR certification would be an asset
Experience:
-    Experience working with people with varying abilities and challenging behaviours
-    Knowledge of lifting techniques and transfers
Skills:
-    Effective time management skills, problem solving and organizational skills
-    Effective written and verbal communication skills to express ideas and information in a clear and concise manner
