GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND ONGOING TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION.
In 2015, SCIC has begun its 27th year of global citizenship education in Saskatchewan. As part of our province-wide, school-based, public engagement efforts we hope to research the progress made in global citizenship education, the needs of educators to do global citizenship education effectively, and the role SCIC and its members can have in the Saskatchewan school system.
The student researcher will work on an education-based research project on global citizenship education in Saskatchewan schools. The student will be hired to carry out the research, conduct interviews, compile information, and create an analysis for the Review of Global Citizenship Education in Saskatchewan Schools.
Duties will include gathering information through focus groups and interviews on how educators understanding of global citizenship education has changed, compiling an annotated resource guide of global citizenship education resources, analyzing the results of this research, and writing a report of findings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required skills include strong written communication skills as well as the qualitative research background needed to conduct focus groups and interviews, create an annotated resource guide, and analyze information. The ability to work independently is strongly encouraged. Knowledge of international development, global citizenship and the not-for-profit sector is an asset.
