Description

ConnectED Recreational Coordinator Position: The Recreational Coordinator will report to the Educational Coordinator developing and organizing recreational workshops and activities for the youth participants of the ConnectED program.

Qualifications:
Minimum required qualifications include:
a)    An undergraduate degree (not restricted to, but preferably) in the area of Kinesiology, Education, or Humanities with background in one or more of the following areas: Social Sciences, Political Studies, English Language Arts, Fine Arts, International studies, or Psychology or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience; and
b)    Knowledge of settlement issues and multiculturalism particularly how it affects teenagers;

Other qualifications include:
a)    Extensive knowledge and appreciation of contemporary issues related to all aspects of multiculturalism such as intercultural understanding, equity, human rights, language rights and cultural retention.
b)    Experience in the areas of teaching/coordinating youth or working with ESL/EAL learners.
c)    Extensive knowledge and appreciation of the intersection of gender, race, and class, particularly as they relate to the lived experiences of immigrant and refugee youth.
d)    Appreciation of and the ability to work with the volunteer sector.
e)    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
f)    People management and inter-personal skills.
g)    Administrative and financial management skills.
h)    Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
i)    Typing and computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Office.
j)    Ability to use social media; Facebook, Twitter, etc.
k)    Relevant work experience and leadership skills.
l)    Holds a valid drivers license and preferably access to their own vehicle.
m)    Valid First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
