Description

The Workplace Literacy Instructor (WLI) will be responsible for designing and delivering classes on workplace culture and vocabulary during the length of the Mentorship Programs eight-week classroom portion. The WLI will be responsible for teaching workplace literacy classes for 2.5 hours/day to adult newcomers with post-secondary education and professional experience. This is a contract position which will be in effect from May 19 - July 10, 2015 from the hours of 12:30  3:00 PM Monday to Friday (class time is not flexible). The position includes prep time before the Program begins and before class each day. The WLI will communicate progress and report and issues or concerns to the Mentorship Program Manager throughout the Program and will provide a brief report at the end of the intake.

Position Details

Duration: May 19, 2015  July 10, 2015 with possibility of extension

Hours: 15 hours/week for an eight week contract (120 total hours)

Qualifications:
    Post-secondary education and program design/delivery in adult education
    Experience developing curricula and ESL/Workplace Literacy resources
    Knowledge of issues surrounding newcomer immigrants and refugees
    Commitment and sensitivity to the varying needs of participants
    Knowledge of issues surrounding racialized Canadians, immigrants, and refugees
    Excellent oral and written communication skills
    Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines
    Must be self-directed and able to complete tasks with limited supervision
    Strong interpersonal skills and familiar with basic office protocol
    Knowledge of the Saskatchewan labour market, job trends, employment opportunities and Canadian workplace culture and language.
