The Family Support specialist is responsible to the Parent Aide Program Director. Family Support Specialists are required to keep confidentiality a priority at all times.
Qualifications
The Family Support Specialist must be capable to work alone or as part of a team, offer hands on support, is non judgmental, have empathy and an open mind when dealing with clients, offer intervention support and hands on practical services. Demonstrate respect at all times towards clients, co workers and community agencies as well as the following:
Minimum one year certificate in human services field and/or/three years experience in social, health or human services field.
Counseling skills and mediation an asset
Excellent written, oral and reporting skills
Ability to work independently and take direction
Knowledge of child growth, development, behavior and knowledge of community resources
Understanding of Native culture
Excellent interpersonal skills
Maintain respect and confidentiality
Flexibility regarding hours of work
Must provide security clearances prior to offer of employment
Must have a valid drivers license and vehicle and a clear driving abstract
