Description

The Coordinator of Student Services position is a continuing 1.0 FTE position. Duties will commence on or about August 25, 2015.

The Coordinator of Student Services has within his/her portfolio:
- collaboration with principals and Special Education Teachers;
- the support of school leaders in the development of student services plan, the collection and interpretation of school data, and support for pedagogy and intervention practices;
- support with parents, communities and partners;

Reporting to the Superintendent of Learning, the Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Senior Leadership team of Horizon School Division to develop a strategic special education long-range plan which will focus on early intervention of at-risk students. The successful candidate will be involved at the grass roots level of schools and classrooms to system initiatives and even influence in provincial committees where appropriate, including working with internal and external partners, to ensure positive outcomes for all students.

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring expertise within the scope of current research in special education pedagogy, system and school-based intervention planning, professional development, and a full range of supportive measures within the scope of student services.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have:
- background as a school principal;
- Master of Education degree in Special Education
- success as a Special Education Teacher;
- breadth of knowledge of current research in literacy practice, pedagogy and intervention strategies;
- breadth of knowledge and experience in implementation of current research in assessment;
- experience with benchmark assessment tools, implementation, interpretation and response;
- commitment to student learning, growth and achievement;
- background in data collection and analysis;
