Equipment Operator
Streets & Roadways Department

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for the position of Equipment Operator in the Streets and Roadways Department of the Infrastructure and Operations Division.  This is a permanent full-time position.  Hours of work may vary, based on operational requirements.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Streets and Roadways, this employee will be part of the crew which is responsible for construction, maintenance and repair of streets, lanes, bridges (pedestrian and vehicular), and sidewalks.  The Machine Operator will mainly be required to operate street sweepers, motor graders, excavators, wheel loaders and other related equipment used in the maintenance of roads, streets and lanes.

Advancement in position is attainable through skills certification.  

Basic Requirements:
    Grade XII Education or GED;
    Must possess and maintain a valid Class 3A Saskatchewan Driverss License and R.C.M.P. security clearance;
    PME Certification and experience operating above mentioned construction and maintenance equipment;
    Ground Disturbance;
    H2S Alive;
    Confined Space;
    OH&S  - Level 1 & 2;
    WHIMS;
    Traffic Accommodation
    Ability to perform general checks and maintenance on equipment;
    Ability to work independently and without supervision as required; and
    Ability to work well with other employees.

Desirable Requirements:
    Flagperson Training;
    Rigging and Boom truck certification
    Air Compressor with Jack Hammer
    Training/Certification in Weed and Rodent Control;
