Description

Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is Canadas national synchrotron research facility located on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon. The CLSI is offering a unique opportunity for a Research Associate position on the VESPERS (Very Sensitive Structural and Elemental Probe Employing Radiation from a Synchrotron) beamline.  VESPERS is a hard X-ray microprobe beamline dedicated to micro-diffraction and micro-fluorescence analysis. It provides ~6-30 keV photons with a selectable bandwidth of ~0.01%, ~1.6%, ~10%, up to a full pink beam. The beamline is open for general user proposals.
Responsibilities: As a member of the CLSI Science Division, the successful applicant will report to Dr. Renfei Feng, CLSI Staff Scientist for the VESPERS Beamline, and be accountable for:
Assisting in the operation, maintenance and upgrade of the beamline
Providing training and support to users
Preparing documentation and protocols for beamline operation
Participating in collaborative research projects/programs
Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
