Reporting to the Mine Engineering Senior Supervisor, the Long Range Mine Planner will be responsible for:
-Development of long term Mine Plans including, Annual, Five-year, Twenty-year, and Life of Mine plans and budgets. Coordinates the development of the long term mine plans with the Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance, Engineering Projects, and Mine Engineering work groups to ensure production targets are met.
-Conducting evaluations of alternative mining plans. Assesses and communicates impacts of short term production decisions on the long range mine plan.  Periodically aligns the short and long term mine plans to ensure production targets are met
-Ensures that the long term plan meets production requirements using the Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) model
-Contributing to a positive safety culture at VPO through Safety Leadership in the workplace through Incident Reporting, Job Task Observations, and Workplace Inspections

Qualifications of the position include:
-Mine Technologist with five or more years of varied experience in mine Engineering
-B.Sc. Degree in Mining or Geological  Engineering would be an asset
-Minimum of five (5) years of underground mining experience; underground Potash experience preferred
-Experience with SAP, MS Word, Excel, and mine design and scheduling software (Mine24D and EPS preferred, Vulcan and/or iGantt)
