Description

Each summer the YMCA of Saskatoons Super Summer Day Camp is host to hundreds of children and youth ages 5-13. Counselor positions are open to individuals with interest in and previous experience working with children and youth in an outdoor environment. YMCA Super Summer Day Camp is seeking leaders who are actively involved in facilitating a positive and engaging camp experience for all.

Responsibilities:
Provide fun, positive and active leadership to campers
Be a friend and mentor to campers and their families
Create a caring, supportive environment where campers feel that they can take risks, make new friends and try new things
Prepare weekly plans appropriate to the program, skill level and age of participants
Communicate effectively with campers, their families and other staff members.
Be responsible for the safety and security of all participants in your care, at all times following the YMCA Policies and Procedures
Be a positive role model and mentor to the CITs and volunteers
Some evening work and overtime is required

Qualifications:
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
Current criminal reference check including vulnerable sector search
Minimum 18 years of age.
Previous experience and positive references related to working with children/youth
Clearly demonstrated a positive attitude and teamwork in prior work/volunteer situations
Can effectively communicate with children and adults
Be adventurous by nature and a love for the outdoors
Strong Swimmer-may be required to show proof of last swimming level completed
B.O.A.T. License would be considered an asset
Must be available to work all eight weeks of camp and participate in all training activities

Must be able to work from June 21 till August 31st.
