The Chinook School Division is seeking permanent & temporary Speech-Language Pathologists. Positions available may be located out of Swift Current & Maple Creek.
RESPONSIBILIES: The successful candidate will provide direct & consultative services to the school-age population with speech & language delays & disorders & related concerns. Responsibilities will include providing education & training to parents, associated professionals, & paraprofessionals regarding speech & language development & disorders. The SLP will work in collaboration with other disciplines (Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists & Student Services Coordinators) to provide comprehensive team services. This position will be based within the K to 12 school system. The successful candidate will have a commitment to the vision, mission, principles & goals of the Chinook School Division.
DUTIES:
-Collaborate in transition needs of students with communication needs.
-Participate in school-based screening of students new to a school.
-Communicate with school personnel & parents regarding individual assessment & programming. This includes but is not limited to needs associated with communication delays & disorders, as well as intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, sensory impairment, behavioural issues or learning disabilities.
-Provide direct, small group, & large group intervention & instruction.
-Consult with parents, teachers, students, & community agencies regarding the communication needs of students.
-Provide staff development & training and assist with program monitoring & evaluation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Masters degree, or equivalent, in Speech-Language Pathology.
-Eligible for registration with SASLPA
-A valid driver's license & willingness to travel
-Motivation to work both independently & as part of a team
-Superior interpersonal, communication & assessment skills
-Interest in children & associated speech & language delays & disorders.
