Description

Frontier College is a national, non-profit literacy organization which was founded in 1899. We work with children, teens, adults and families who need help to improve their literacy skills. Frontier College has partnered with Canadas Building Trades Unions (CBTU) and its affiliates to deliver literacy and essential skills to apprentices, tradespersons and individuals wanting to enter the trades.  Literacy and essential skills (LES) are defined as reading, writing, document use, numeracy, digital technology, thinking, oral communication, working with others, and continuous learning. Over the next three years Frontier College will work closely with participating trades and CBTU affiliates in eight sites across Canada to design and implement programming that addresses the specific needs and challenges of each participant community and learner group. Learners at each site will have a maximum of 12 months to complete training interventions (industry standard). We are seeking a full-time Instructor Coordinator (IC) in Regina to work closely with participants, trades partners and volunteer tutors to implement the project. The IC will assess needs, provide essential skills upgrading and ensure that participants are able to achieve their goals and eligibility requirements to move forward on their apprenticeship path. The IC is responsible for recruiting and managing volunteer tutors. Instruction will be provided through a customized blend of in-class instruction and volunteer tutor support.
