-Work with the family on communication skills
-Work with the parents to develop positive behavior management and disciplinary techniques
-Offer support and suggestions around problem-solving specific situations and challenges within the family
-Provide support in developing parenting skills, stress management and other types of training to family members, including role-modeling techniques and practices.
-Provide education for parents on how to access emergency assistance, supports, and community resources.
-Assist the family with goal setting, planning, and other activities related to home management tasks.
-Meet with the family on a regular basis at a mutually agreed upon time with the family (once or twice a week for ~ 5 hours week)
-Document all services appropriately.
The parent aide will:
-Be understanding and honest
-Respect the confidentiality and privacy of the home
-Have exceptional communication skills
-Have a valid license and reliable vehicle
-Have recent criminal record and vulnerable sector check
-An understanding of disabilities and related challenges an asset
