Facility: Weyburn General Hospital
Hours of Work: In a 4 week rotation: 12 shifts of 11.78 hours, 1 shift of 8.00 hours
Job Summary: The role of the Senior Assistant is inter-dependent and collaborative, working under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse, and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and the Manager of Nursing and Physician(s). The Senior Assistant is qualified by academic and practical preparation to independently care for convalescent, subacutely ill and chronically ill of all ages in hospitals and other agencies under the direction of the above classifications. The Senior Assistant is responsible to work within the designated position description, know the limits of his/her competence and to seek assistance as required.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Successful completion of 3rd year, College of Nursing Program (Must have completed year 3 of NEPS program or equivalent)
- Ability to be flexible and willing to change due to workload and emergency situations
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Current certification in Basic Life Support at Level C
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
