Description

The LRO reports to the President and Executive Council and provides consultative services to the members in the interpretation and application of the collective agreement, handles all aspects of rights grievances, serves as a member of the Bargaining Team, and provides research and analysis of statistical information required for the support of effective bargaining strategies.

Grievance Handling in consultation with Executive Council
Carries out initial interviews and consultations on grievances.
Provides advice concerning the range of possible approaches to the resolution of issues.
Prepares records and advocates on behalf of member grievances up to referral to arbitration.
Mediates resolutions where possible and appropriate.
Reports to the Executive Council on the activities of the LRO and alerts the Executive to potential or actual violations in the application or interpretation of the Collective Agreement.
Files individual member grievances and makes recommendations concerning the filing of Association grievances.
Assists legal counsel with rights arbitration preparation.

Collective Bargaining
Serves as a member of the Bargaining Committee, and assists the Executive Council in providing direction to the committee.
Provides research and analysis of information required for the support of effective bargaining strategies.
Maintains databases as required for long term bargaining objectives and historical comparisons.
Facilitates the proposals development process prior to collective bargaining.
Develops proposals for exchange at the bargaining table.
Prepares or assists legal counsel with interest arbitration.

Location
The position works primarily out of the Saskatoon office covering Saskatoon and Prince Albert campuses.
