Description

The Qu'Appelle Haven Safe Shelter is a non-profit organization that provides a temporary safe place for women and children in the Fort Qu'Appelle area.  Qu'Appelle Haven Safe Shelter (Q.H.S.S.) is an affiliate organization of the File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council that serves 11 First Nations in Southern Saskatchewan and within the Treaty Four Territory. The Qu'Appelle Haven Safe Shelter is looking for:


Support Worker (Casual positions)

We are seeking caring individuals to join our team for casual positions. Under the direction of the QHSS Director, the Support Worker(s) will assist with the care and maintenance of the safe shelter and provide non-judgmental support and counselling to clients. Responsibilities include: client intakes, case management, report writing, transportation, referral services, crisis intervention and will participate in programming designed to meet the needs of resident families.  A thorough orientation will be provided.

Candidates for this position must possess the following:

-    Post secondary education in Social Work or related field;
-        Previous experience working with children, youth and families;
-    Good understanding and knowledge of case management  and counseling techniques;
-    Ability to work various shifts on a call in basis
-    Punctual, dependable and reliable;
-    Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
-    Familiarity of and respect for First Nations culture and traditions;
-    First Aid/CPR and Safe Food Handling would be an asset;
-    Must undertake a CPIC and Child Abuse registry check;
