Description

The Department of Curriculum Studies invites applications for a one-year term position at the Assistant Professor level commencing July 1, 2015.
The successful candidate will design, develop, deliver and adapt courses focusing on preparing teacher candidates and graduate students to Indigenize the curriculum through a consideration of the following: the teaching of Indigenous Languages Pedagogy; the application of Indigenous contexts to language learning; and the contributions of research focusing on Indigenous language education. Outcomes for students include the ability to promote respect for, and retention and reclaiming of, language and culture for each language group (including Cree, Dakota/Lakota/Nakoda, Dene and Saulteaux (Anisnabek) and their varying dialects). The ability to teach core courses in the College of Education is required.  All faculty are expected to conduct research and contribute to collegial processes in the College of Education.
The candidate should have, or be near the completion of, a doctoral degree in an appropriate specialization related to Indigenous language/literacy and the ability to work across disciplines. Experience working with Indigenous learners in Indigenous contexts is essential. Desirable candidates will be familiar with a variety of flexible practices related to teaching and learning. Experience teaching at a K-12 and/or post-secondary level is a preference.
Salary bands for this post are as follows: Assistant Professor - $86,844  $104,357; Associate Professor - $104,357 - $121,871 and Professor - $121,871 - $142,303.
