Description

The Lands and Resources Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating activities to assist the LLRIB (communities including La Ronge, Stanley Mission, Grandmother's Bay, Sucker River, Hall Lake and Little Red River) to respond to government consultation notifications related to duty to consult and accommodate matters. This position is responsible for facilitating consultation activities at the direction of the LLRIB Lands & Resources Management Board.

Duties:

-Report to Lands and Resource Management Board and Chief and Council on a monthly basis;
-Take direction from the Lands and Resource Management Board, on an on-going basis;
-Government liaison and reporting (as required);
-Industry liaison (as required);
-Annual budget monitoring, reporting and management;
-Locating and securing funding sources, reporting and management of funding;
-Background research and providing recommendations to Lands and Resource Management Board and Chief and Council;
-Provide on-going collaboration with Canada North Environmental Service and Kitsaki Management Limited Partnership (as required);
-Communication, press releases and debriefing notes for Chief and Council (as directed);
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and confidential records;
-Supervise staff; and
-Other duties as necessary or required.

Minimum Requirements:

-Degree in Resource/Land Management, Native Studies, Law and Policy or related discipline;
-Experience in project management and land use planning;
-Experience in conducting research, making presentations and writing reports;
-Experience working with elders and traditional land users, knowledge of Woodland Cree culture;
-Excellent organizational, analytical, planning and policy development skills;
-Ability to travel to remote locations in northern conditions;
-Excellent oral and written communication skills;
-Excellent computer skills.

The ability to speak Woodland Cree is an asset.
